Athi special school is an institution dedicated to the physically handicapped learners, we admit learners from all corners of Kenya and beyond.
The school was started in 1996 as a unit within Athi Primary School. It grew to school status and was registered in 2014 as a special school for the physically handicapped learners. Currently Athi Special School has an enrollment of 55 boys and 50 girls a total of 105 learners all boarders. It has 10 teachers and 8 non-teaching staff. The school is run by Board of Management (BOM) which has representation from various groups of stake-holders. They include the teaching staff, sponsor, parents, community, Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) and County Education Board (CEB).The head teacher is the secretary to the Board of Management.The parents of the school form the P.A and the chairperson of the Parents Association and automatically becomes a member of BOM which has a 3 year lifespan.
